I followed a link to a prompt that had the photo — and the invitation to write whatever comes to mind.

This is what came to mind based on the photo above.

Nowhere To Go

They have run
out of places
to hide
they sit
searching
for somewhere
to run
and find themselves
lost
with nowhere
to go.

No Space In The Margins

Parcelled out
the day unfolds
neatly printed
beneath a To Do
listing
in orderly fashion
like soldiers on parade
what must be done
item by item
to show
progress made
steps taken
to get done
what needs
to be done
with no space
left
on either side
of the margins
for becoming
human.

Tread Lightly

Tread lightly
the pathways to the heart
are delicate threads
always at the point of breaking
or becoming
a story of Love.

Tread carefully
the stories of Love
you weave
for you never know whose spirit
is breaking
you never now whose dreams
are awakening.

Tread softly
for with each step
you leave an impression,
that can take the breath away
or leave you breaking
hopelessly beneath the pain
of loss.

What will yours be?

Day After Day

IMG_2168Day After Day

Was it you I saw on the street
sitting on a concrete wall
watching the world pass by
as you’ve watched it
pass for days on end
wondering
where did your world
disappear to?

Was it the time you gave
your heart
and it was returned
in pieces that could not fit
together
and so you reached
for a bottle, a pipe
anything to make the pain
go away.

Or maybe it was that time
you went out
for the newspaper
and she packed up
your world and the ones
you helped bring into it
and left you
without a clue
as to how to get it back.

Or maybe it was the death
of your dreams
that time you took
a risk and moved
north
to find your fortune
and all you got for your troubles
was a habit you didn’t want to keep

And now you’re stuck
with the memories of all the things
you tell yourself you’ve done
to bring you here
to this concrete wall
on which you sit
day after day
and watch the world go by.

At the Edge of Awakening

©2013 Louise Gallagher

Standing out
in the field of possibility
I lean into
the unknown
and call out
to you
Come join me
here
at the edge
of awakening
leave the forest of doubt
behind
Come stand out
within the limitless
wonder
of life
expanding
into infinite joy.

The Truth Of Everything

IMG_3421The Truth of Everything

© 2013 Louise Gallagher

Leaning into the edge
what I know
slips into the unknown
opening up
within the grace
of life
calling me
to let go
and explore
the truth
of everything
I don’t know.

letting go
I fall
and find myself
expanding
beyond everything
I know.

The Memory of Sight

The memory of sight
heard the whisper of a thousand voices
calling
Awaken!
Awaken!
and in the silence of a thousand hearts
beating
in time
she opened the eyes of her heart
and took flight upon a thousand wings
beating
in time
to the wonder
of her wings unfolding.

Holding on to letting go

09 Saturday Feb 2013

I forget
where breath begins
and hold onto nothing
but my last breath
fearing there will never be
another to fill
the void.

Letting go
life rushes in and fills
the space
with nothing
more than
my last breath
moving into
the next.

In the ebb
of life’s
constant flow
holding on
fills the void
and I become
each breath
letting go.

I sleep awakened

I sleep
and my heart stays awake
to the pounding
of the surf
calling fairy dancers
to cast
their nets of dreams
rising
up
into the night.

Dreaming myself awake

08 Friday Feb 2013

In the sweet silver music
of the night
I slip into the velvet blanket
of a star lit sky
and cast my dreams
upon Indra’s net.

Caught in a moon beam
shimmering
with the glow of a thousand stars
dancing in the light
of the moon
rising
up
I dream
myself
awake.
