A heart full of love

02 Friday Nov 2012

Silently
my heart breaks
open
to the wonder
of being
at peace
with this moment
unfolding
on silken wings.

Joyfully
my body dances
wildly
to the beat
of life
unfolding
in a heart
full
of Love.

Forgetting is not forgotten

01 Thursday Nov 2012

I forgot
in between the doing
to-ing
and fro-ing
I forgot

Not about peace
never about peace
just the commitment
to make peace a priority

but is it necessary to always hold
that which I want to create
in front of me?

is it necessary to be
that which I want to live
always within me
letting it out for others to see?

Yes.
To create change
I must be that change

To keep my commitment
I must live my commitment
and in the living
inspire my heart
to live up to
the peace within me.

and in that living
peace becomes
me
and you
and them
and us
until
our thinking shifts
from finding ways
to find peace
through war
to living peace
through our hearts
connected.

Thank you Elizabeth for bringing me back to my commitment to write a poem of peace a day. I begin again.

Peace happened between us

04 Tuesday Sep 2012

I heard a man say
what’re ya’ smokin’ lady?

Peace?
it’ll never happen.

I stepped into the circle
of his discord

the smoke of his cigarette
circling me

like smoke signals
whispering on the winds of change

I stretched out my hand
and he reached his hand back

towards me crossing
the distance between us

lessened as we stepped
towards each other

We just have to make room
for peace I told him

And we stood
hands connected

the smoke rose and we breathed
momentarily together

and peace happened
between us.

There is no other way

03 Monday Sep 2012

Peace happens
it is not a by-product
of war or anger, strife or discord
it is not the outcome
of governments signing
treaties declaring
peace begins
now.

Peace never ended
it just never had a chance
to be present
in our fear
Love wasn’t enough
to make peace happen
now.

Peace never left us
we just quit believing
it was there
in our hearts
and that we could make it
rise up
now.

Peace happens
when we let go of believing
war, anger, strife and discord
are the answer.

Peace happens
inside
me
and you
and all of us
when we let go
of fearing
there is no other way
than Love.

Peace all around

17 Friday Aug 2012

My heart beats
a quiet tattoo
calling out
anger, strife and grief
into the light
of love
pulsing through my veins
opening my heart
I find myself
open to peace
flowing gently
all around.

In my heart
hope lives

a glowing ember
igniting peace
on the road of life

In my dreams
hope rises

an eternal flame
creating peace
in all the world.

Peace in the uncommon ground.

15 Wednesday Aug 2012

In the uncommon ground between us
I must first make peace
with where I stand
to make room
for you to be
at peace
with where ever you are

In finding peace
with where we’re at
the path
to the common ground
appears
for peace to grow
between us.

I don’t understand

13 Monday Aug 2012

I don’t understand
sometimes
this urge for war
this desire
to kill
it feels
sometimes
as if I cannot
handle
anymore
news
of death arriving
at the hands
of strangers

I don’t understand
and in my confusion
death calls
somewhere
in the world
and I struggle
to grasp
the meaning of
a stranger’s desire
to shoot
a stranger.

The world bleeds
and I want
to stop
it
bleeding
out

War no more

11 Saturday Aug 2012

Under a frail and moody sky
peace lay bleeding
among the skeletal remains
of life exposed
upon the battlefields
peeled back from the bone-weary
arms
of a mother
holding close the lifeless memory
of her child
gone to war
to cry no more.

Deaf ears
listened silently
to a mother’s call
to lay down
arms
raging
war on and on
until there were
no more voices
to call
for war
no more.

Peace lay down
beneath a frail and moody sky
and cried
no more.

Peace waits

I scurry
daylight waning
in this space where
I follow the path
into forgetful
wondering
where peace
went
in the flurry of
daily obligations
hurrying to and fro
and find myself
here
quietly breathing
in the waning light
of day
calling for night
to bring peace
to my day.
