VIGILS (Night)

Beginning, sun sets
in shadowed light embracing day.
Owl hunts in darkness.

LAUDS (Dawn)

Breathing into light
dawn quietly leaves night’s bed.
Sparrow sings of joy.

TERCE (Morning)

Create! day called out
to time passing by unseen.
Magpie adors its nest.

SEXT (Noon)

Crimson fire burning hot
expands out to touch the horizon.
Eagle soars on high.

NONE (Mid-afternoon)

Ending, day seeks
closure in death’s sweet promise.
Raven waits patiently.

VESPERS (Evening)

Dusks thin veil pulls back
releasing earth from day’s labour.
Dove settles lightly.

COMPLINE (Night)

Seeking the great One
silence beckons at night’s edge.
Swan floats silently.

All That Remains

All That Remains

©2014 Louise Gallagher

When I breathe
let my breath be expanded
out to embrace all of life
filling me up
with endless possibility
urging me to leap.

When I love
let my heart be broken
wide open
let my body be consumed
by love’s endless calling
me to let go.

When I leave
let my flame be burned
out completely
let me be consumed
by the flames of life
carrying me away.

When I am gone
let my memories consume
the hurts and pains
I’ve caused and known
so that all that remains
is Love.
