Dancing Myself Free

Leaning into the edge
of my potential
I shed memory’s lure
calling me back
like a snake
casting off my skin
I slip free
of remembering
what I didn’t know
was possible
until I met you.

Releasing the threads
of memory
held taut
within the cells
of my body
bound up
in memories of you
I flow
free
the words
writing themselves out
as I remember
how to dance
in the unknown
spaces

Shedding the past
I leap
into possibility
inviting me to explore
all that can be
when I set myself free
of what was
and will never be
again
when I dance
free
along the edges
of my potential
coming alive.
